A fortnight ago I published a photograph of the girls who worked at the Co-op bakery at Farlington. There was just one man in the photograph.

I received an e-mail from Carole Gannon who was delighted to open the paper and see her father starring out at her.

He was Joseph Osborne who worked for the Co-op all his working life. He worked all through the blitz when the bakery was based in Fratton and was reduced to rubble.

‘He would have been delighted to see the photograph with ‘‘his girls’’ as he used to call them,’ says Carole.
