This was Emsworth Mill Pond during a big freeze in January 1985.

More than five inches of snow had fallen over south-east Hampshire and temperatures had remained below freezing for a week. The ice had been more than four inches thick until council workers broke it up to prevent skaters falling through it. The last time it had frozen to this extent was during the long, bitter winter of 1963.
