I’ve received three documents in the post from Derek Cush who came across them in some old papers he obtained. They are the enrolment papers for one Lilian Lobb, formerly of James Street, Southsea, who joined the Wrens in June 1943.

The ‘barracks’ was the former Pendragon Hotel in Clarence Parade, Southsea, taken over by the navy for the duration of the war. It has since closed and is now converted to flats.

The HQ for the Wrens was Coronation House, which also still stands in Kings Terrace on the junction with the Kings Road.

Below is a copy of the letter Lilian received with joining instructions. If you are a relation of Lilian’s and would like the documents, please drop me a line with some proof of identity.
