NOSTALGIA WITH BOB HIND: Curse of the telegram: Dear Mrs Hall – your son is dead

Have your say

Angela Palmer wonders if any readers have information about a shop where her late mother worked in the 1930s.

She left school in 1936 and was taken on as an apprentice at Scarrs of Southsea, a shop which sold women’s fashions and where Angela’s mother specialised in corsetry.

Angela said: ‘She often talked about the long hours and strict discipline of working in the shop, but I have never seen mention of this shop in the history of Portsmouth.’

Can anyone help?
