These fine young women parading in swimming costumes were doing their bit to raise morale during the Second World War.

It was 1941 and the ‘Perfect Figure’ competition was held at Hilsea Lido, Portsmouth. None of the entrants seemed to have any inhibitions about their figures. This type of event would, of course, be frowned on in today’s politically correct world.
