We’ve all heard of Bradley Wiggins and his triumph in the Tour de France. But way back in the 1950s and ’60s there were two local men who also competed in this classic race.

Tony Hoar and Brian Robinson from Emsworth are pictured at the end of the gruelling race. Do you know more about them?

On a similar note, Mrs Skinner of Portchester tells me that there used to be a racing cycle shop on Hilsea market facing the News office run by a man called Bill Harwell. It was thought he was a former Olympic cyclist. Does anyone remember him?
