PREVIOUSLY unseen vintage photographs will go on show at an exhibition.

Black and white images of Fareham taken by photographer Bob Aylott in the 1980s will be displayed at Fareham Library.

The photographs were taken when he published free newspaper Front Page.

Among the photographs are unusual views of West Street as well as a cricket match at Portchester Castle. Other views show streets, buildings and iconic landmarks that have since disappeared.

For 35 years the negatives have lain dormant, stored in Mr Aylott’s archives.

Framed and unframed photographs will be exhibited with the rare opportunity to buy a unique slice of vintage Fareham.

Mr Aylott, 66, said. ‘This is probably the first and last time these images will be displayed. I hope they bring back great memories for people and reflect the town as they remember.’

The exhibition Fareham Circa 1980 will be on show at Fareham Library from February 21 until April 10.
