A new book, Around Fareham From Old Photographs, gives a glimpse into the history of the area surrounding the town.

It includes fascinating looks at Wallington, Funtley, Portchester and along the Wickham Road.

The book includes more than 200 photographs and author Alice James provides an insight into the past and present life of the old market town.

Although there are views of thriving High Streets, vanished buildings and well-known houses, the emphasis is on the people who were born or settled in the area.
