Have your say

This intriguing old picture of Kimbells – one of Portsmouth’s favourite former night spots that I featured here last year – were spotted by the venue’s former owner John Miller.

He thought readers would enjoy seeing photographs of the building in Osborne Road, Southsea, as it was in its prime.

To refresh your memories, the old ballroom and bars still exist, but are no longer used and echo to the sound of a thousand party and function nights.

John, whose firm JM Inns ran a chain of pubs and restaurants in south-east Hampshire and West Sussex, was living in Spain when I featured the pictures.

But since then he has returned to the area and has taken on, after a big refurbishment, the country pub The Woodmancote Arms, at Woodmancote, just over the Hampshire/West Sussex border near Westbourne.
