The party was in the Hilsea Crescent/Horsea Road area of Hilsea, Portsmouth, and, says his daughter, he was the first soldier in the area to make it home.

The second picture shows Bill on the extreme left of the front row, this time, in 1973, as manager of the Hilsea-based football team Lido Sports.
