Many readers will know Jean North (nee Spencer) through the two wool shops she runs in Portsmouth and Cowplain.

But how many of her customers can recognise her in this school photo?

Jean, of the Ann Louise Wool Shop in Copnor Road, Portsmouth, said: ‘My five-year-old grandson John picked me out straight away saying: ‘You haven’t changed grandma’. Not bad after 50 years.’

Jean is sitting on the ground, second from the right in the front row.

Her friend Sarah is above her and the two are firm friends to this day.

Jean added: ‘My skirt and blouse came from Will Brown’s in North End, a thriving shopping area then with Bulpits, Marks & Spencer and Milwards where we all got our shoes and where they had a lovely rocking horse.’
