The hugely popular roller skating rink on Southsea Common was one of the top places to hang out in the 1950s.

Proudly proclaimed as the largest open air rink at the time, it was widely used by the public and, as you can see, drew large crowds of spectators.

The old bandstand building forms the centre of the rink, as it still does today although the attraction is now called Southsea Skatepark.
