THIS WEEK IN 1978: Oliver Twist pub dispute settles

Have your say

Here we see a class of boys from Oak Park School, Havant, with their class teacher Harry Simpson, far left.

Mr Simpson was the gardening teacher at the school and used to revel in making boys who wore uniform unload lorryloads of manure when it arrived.

He was always called Harry by the boys, perhaps not to his face, but everyone knew him as such.

He had hands like shovels and enjoyed a game of cricket with the lads.
