THIS WEEK IN 1993: ‘Despicable’ attack on Armistice Day

Have your say

This fine group of men are posing outside the Crown Brewery, which was once located in All Saints Street in the centre of Portsmouth.

I’m just wondering if
it eventually became The Royal.

That’s the pub that still stands on the corner of Commercial Road and All Saints Street.

Is it the same building? If someone knows, maybe they could get in touch.

The group look very
smart for a normal visit to the pub.

I wonder if there was some sort of special occasion?

Or maybe they were just dressed in their Sunday best
 – complete with hats of course.

The little lad to the left wearing the Lord Fauntleroy suit amazed me as well.

He certainly seems to
be dressed for something special.

It really makes you wonder what they were doing and why they were posing for the picture. And of course who they were.

An intriguing picture indeed.
