Further evidence of the trams that ran on the light railway to Horndean still exists if you know where to look. About 500 yards north of the Southwick Road junction with London Road and opposite Widley Road can be seen this flight of steps.

They have not been used for their original purpose since 1907, but still remain intact. Tram passengers used this flight of steps to board trams from a small platform that once stood at the top.
