HMS Repulse, an apology

I made a classic error last week, for which I can only apologise.

I said the Royal Oak and Renown were lost. It should of course have been the sister ship to Renown, HMS Repulse.

She was sunk by the Japanese in 1941. Thanks to all who corrected me.

On another note, as to ships that were once friends, David Phillips of Havant tells me the article brought back memories of his father telling him he went on board the German pocket battleship Graf Spee when it was here as part of the 1937 Coronation Review.

He also told David of his memory of Japanese sailors from the cruiser Asigara.

When the crews went ashore in Portsmouth every sailor had his own private water bottle!
