It’s 9.35pm and a solitary figure trudges through virgin snow past the Christmas tree in an eerily quiet Guildhall Square, Portsmouth.

This page is called Remember When and few people will ever forget this night.

The photograph shows that nostalgia does not have to be confined to 50 or more years ago.

For this was shortly after Christmas two years ago, the night Portsmouth had its heaviest snowfall since the 1960s.

It captures the festive spirit perfectly.
