This was the street party to celebrate the Queen’s coronation in 1953 for the people of the Baffins Pond area of Copnor, Portsmouth.

It was held in the grounds of Langstone School and Jean Cray, who provided the picture, says partygoers were entertained by a magician and lots of food and singing.

Jean, now 82, of Stride Avenue, Copnor, is standing with her back to the school building holding her baby son Stephen (arrowed).
