Another update on this picture from former Portsmouth North Labour MP Syd Rapson.

Ken Allen was delighted to see it again because he is the lad holding the Z in the photograph taken during a school pageant to celebrate the Queen’s coronation in 1953.

Ken says: ‘My line in the saga was: ‘‘Z stands for zeal with which we go about our daily tasks’’.

‘Standing next to me is Elaine Doel, a cousin of my wife and now living in Plymouth. I believe the letter A was being held by Rosemary Fleming and the B, I think, by Derek Bampton.

‘I used to live at No 53 Jessie Road and Syd lived in the house next door to the Nell Gwynne pub. We were all pupils of Francis Avenue junior school, next door to the secondary modern school. We used the hall because it had a stage and presentation hall which were not present in the junior school.’

For those who missed it: Syd Rapson is holding the second E.
