These three photographs show Horndean in the early years of the last century.

The pub with the solitary car parked outside is the old Good Intent in a picture taken about 1910.

Over the years the exterior has had some alteration but the main changes have been to the interior.

During the last 20 years or so The Good Intent has had different restaurants incorporated into it. One was the Schooner Inn and then a Berni Inn.

In November 2006 the Good Intent’s name was changed to the Colonial Bar.

The other two pictures show a peaceful and muddy London Road as it goes through the centre of the village.
