Bonny Keogh will never forget Friday, July 11, 1980.

It was the day the Queen opened Fratton Community Centre in Trafalgar Place.

Two children who attended the centre’s play scheme were selected to present a bouquet and Bonny (nee Goring) was one, Jonathan Ackerman the other. They were both 10 and lived in the Fratton area.

Bonny said: ‘Jonathan held the flowers until we approached the Queen, then he handed them to me and I gave them to Her Majesty.’
