After this picture appeared in Remember When last month, Molly Wiseman (nee Kenny) went to The News website (portsmouth.co.uk) to identify these members of the Metal Box factory cricket team of the early 1960s.

Even though she was only 11 or 12, she came up with the following names.

Back row (from left to right): ?, Bill Mason, Cyril Marshall, Peter Merewood, ?, Terry Kenny, umpire Snowy Winkworth.

Front row: Tony Jennings, Charlie Mack, Eddie Jupp, Charlie Dore, Ron Cole.

Pat Dymott (nee King) then got in touch to identify the man in the back row third from the right as John Davies.

Pat, who worked for Metal Box in Portsmouth from 1956-1976, says she was the team’s scorer and adds: ‘They were happy days. The team played home matches on the playing field opposite in Dundas Lane.

‘Looking now at the retail park and Admiral Lord Nelson School, it is all difficult to imagine.’
