MORE memories of Park Parade shopping centre in Leigh Park came from David Cross.

David said I failed to mention that in later years Park Parade was either called ‘Parkers’ or just ‘The Parade.’

Colin Shepherd says that, although I mentioned many of the shops, I missed out on Good & Son jewellers and Freeman, Hardy & Willis – known all over the UK for shoes.

Then there were three different bakers – Westons (later Wilkins), Campions and Smith & Vosper.

For television hire there was Radio Rentals/Rentaset, plus Tylers the wine merchant and Mr Ford the shoe repairer.

We must not forget the well-established public house The Greyhound. This was before the extra ‘bit’ at Greywell was added on in 1966.
