A reversal of the present weather, here we see traffic at a standstill on the summit of Portsdown Hill, 1941.

We’re now on the slippery slope to winter, so here’s a reminder from Portsmouth

As I mentioned last week I am re-issuing my book The Naval Camps of Bedhampton, Havant & Leigh Park updated with some colour pictures.

Looking through old manuscripts of the original I came across these two photographs which I did not use and I wonder if any of you know anything about them?

Children at Stockheath school.

The first looks like a coronation party in 1953.

The people are residents of the camps who lived there after the Fleet Air Arm and displaced persons from Eastern Europe had moved on.

The second was taken at Stockheath school the buildings of which were the former admin blocks of HMS Daedalus III. Do you recognise yourself?

If you are in the photo or lived at Stockheath or Bedhampton camps do let me know.
