These three girls are senior citizens now, but their mother wanted to turn back the clock nearly 60 years to rekindle some coronation memories.

Regular reader Peggy Pannell supplied the photographs of her three daughters having fun in fancy dress at the 1953 street party in Hyde Park Road, Southsea.

Seven-year-old Margaret went as the Sugar Plum Fairy, three-year-old Ann was Little Bo Peep and Sheila, four, was dressed as an English rose.

Peggy, of Laburnum Road, Fareham, says: ‘I made their costumes from crepe paper and Michael, their nine-month-old brother, was in his decorated pram.’

The other picture shows Peggy’s late husband Raymond as a pirate.
