The recent picture of the Portsmouth Sunday League team from Grosvenor Press prompted Michael Harvey to raid his albums and seek some names from readers.

Michael, of Highbury Grove, Cosham, is on the right hand end of the back row in this picture of the Portsmouth printing firm’s B team.

It was taken at Rugby Camp, Hilsea, in March 1968 and Michael said: ‘The team was for those who could not command a place in the first team.

‘We only played friendlies and we did not join a league probably because we spent most of the weekend in the pub before and after the match. Hence, I recall a 31-0 drubbing and some other 10-0 defeats.’

And, perhaps because of that heavy socialising, Michael can only recall one other name from this side – Bob Cunningham who is second from the left in the front row. Can readers supply the others?

He also submitted the other two photos.

The first shows the winners of the firm’s sports awards at its annual dinner and dance at South Parade Pier, Southsea, in 1987. Again, Michael is on the right hand end of the back row.

The others are (back row l to r): Peter Vine, Keith Beaton, Paul Bailey, Gary Mackay.

Front: Barrie Maidens, Bob Adams, David Poole, Malcolm Cammell, Michael Hughes.

The final Grosvenor picture shows a presentation of long service awards, also in 1987. Between them they had clocked up nearly 500 years’ service with the company.

Managing director David Desborough was doing the honours with (from the left) Alan Smith, Gerry Barber, Jim Batchelor, Paul Elbourne, Jean Herlock, Keith Baker, Peter Hunt, Brian Pitt, Cliff Pidgeon, Pat Freeborn, Harry Smith, Michael Harvey, Ray Beale, Brian Lewis. Not in the picture was Alf Roberts.
