The opening of the Western Road from Cosham to Paulsgrove on October 26, 1922.

Built across the marshes, this was one of several road building schemes carried out in the 1920s that provided work for many unemployed men in the aftermath of the First World War.

Today, the road is the A27 running past 1000 Lakeside, the former IBM headquarters.
