Where there’s a wheel there’s a way – straight down Portsmouth tramlines

Have your say

Peter Forsyth sent this photo of his wife’s grandfather George Morriss who, in the 1911 census, was a golf pro lodging at the George Inn on top of Portsdown Hill.

His dapper attire, compared to today’s lightweight clothing, says it all.

Peter wonders where the photograph was taken. At first glance I thought it might be the Wimbledon Park area of Southsea, but that’s only a guess. Can anyone identify with George or work out the location of the picture?
