Pompey pop historian Mick Cooper would like readers’ help with these two city-based bands – one more than 50 years ago, the other from the 1970s.

Mick says the older photograph is of Nancarrow’s Dance Orchestra which played through the 1940s and 50s, often at the Oddfellows Hall in Kingston Road.

Who were the members of the group Together which played in Portsmouth in the early 1070s?

At the piano is George Coalbran, but he doesn’t know the others.

‘It’s unlikely that any of their customers are still with us, but they may have family who might be able to name names?’ says Mick.

The younger group were called Together and were playing the Portsmouth scene in the early 1970s, but exactly who they are is unknown.
