Waterlooville - More than 1,000 homes go up in Waterlooville as it expands to cater for young families

THIS WEEK IN 1980: The expansion of Waterlooville

Anchorage Park, photographed here in 1986, was built on the site of Portsmouth Airport.

The housing development offered 700 new homes, a supermarket and 50 acres for industry, hence more employment.

The estate was designed to reduce the number of houses overlooking another house and to create quiet cul-de-sacs.
