I recently wrote about Coldman’s Stores, which stood on Bedhampton Hill just to the left of this pub.
Unfortunately the photographer had cropped out the pub and so I show you this painting of the building.
Chickens mooch about in the road while a carriage awaits its owner who was no doubt having a quiet pint.
The three-fingered signpost points to Purbrook, Swanwick and Wickham to the right, Farlington and Portsmouth to the left and, behind the artist, to Havant, Newbarn and Chichester. Newbarn was an area off Hulbert Road on the way to Waterlooville.
