The demolition of Turret House in September 1956.

Originally built to house the garrison commander of Portchester Castle, the house later became a school.

The turret was used as a signal post to communicate between the castle and the house, with a relay turret on St Vincent House in Castle Street.

The site is now occupied by Portchester library, the venue for the Portchester Past exhibition
