a recent picture of a 1953 coronation street party in Lawson Road, Southsea, prompted Bob Edwards to reach for his albums.

And he found this photograph of the gathering for the same event but in the next street along off Fawcett Road – Stansted Road.

Bob, of Berkshire Close, Fratton, says he was a classmate at Southsea Modern School of Brian Quarrington, who submitted the Lawson Road picture.

Bob is sitting in the row nearest the camera, third from the left. Next to him are Gordon Twigg, Peter Skinner and Margaret Skinner.

Opposite Bob is his sister Sue and the woman leaning over her is their mother.

Bob says that children to her left are: Michael Griffin, Patrick Winkworth and his brother Dave, Bob’s brother Pat, Robert Adshead, Michael Martin and Christine and Margaret Wareham.
