Den Laing’s picture of the Gosport Army Cadet band shortly after the Second World War prompted Norman Hall to dig out this picture.

It shows the Gosport band about 1947 performing at Winchester.

Norman, of Nobes Avenue, Gosport, said: ‘The band was in competition with other Hampshire cadet bands. I believe it won or came second.

‘The drum major was Roy Kelly and his brother John is in the middle of the front row.’
