Saint Roger's halo didn't slip when he gave me interview

Look closely at these children and you get the distinct impression they were none too chuffed to have their class picture taken.

For example, take a look at the lad on the right hand end of the second row down.

Regular contributor Gez Groom, who supplied the picture, says: ‘When you look closer at some of the other faces they are a real picture.

‘You get the feeling they do not want to be there or perhaps they’d been admonished for messing about.’

Nevertheless, Gez had a reason for going through his family photos to dig out this image of youngsters at Binsteed Road School, Buckland, Portsmouth, about 1928.

He wanted one for his aunt’s 90th birthday and found this. She is Joyce Groom and she and her sister Laura are in the second row from the front wearing ribbons in their hair.

Can anyone recognise any of the remaining faces, particularly the glums?
