In the picture we see three lost Portsmouth pubs all in a row in Commercial Road, close to what many still refer to as the Town railway station (Portsmouth and Southsea).

From the left they were The Criterion, The Claremont and The Railway Hotel, which was also known as Judd’s.

They were all demolished in 1973 as the city centre was redeveloped.
