Here’s a familiar shot of one of the many aircraft carriers that have passed through the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour.

As can be seen, the deck has not an aircraft in sight but is loaded with military lorries and Jeeps of all kinds.

I believe this is a 1950s photograph and possibly shows an Australian carrier. Can you help?

In the top right hand corner can be seen HMS Vernon with a minehunter/sweeper at anchor. There are very few people on top of the Round Tower wishing them a bon voyage.
