Grove looking west in Edwardian days.

A magnificent photograph looking south over Portsbridge with the Hilsea arches in the background. Picture: Barry Cox Collection

Where there’s a wheel there’s a way – straight down Portsmouth tramlines

Have your say

We can tell by the shadows that here we are looking west down Elm Grove, Southsea.

I think it is at its crossroads with Grove Road North and Elm Grove South.

As trams never travelled down Elm Grove and there were no double-decker buses at the time, can anyone suggest how the photographer took the photograph from the middle of the road and so high up?
