Photographer and regular Remember When contributor Clare Ash has discovered dozens of pictures of this zany event in her archives.

It was the 1975 Pramolympics in Portsmouth and raised funds for the lord mayor’s appeal.

Clare, of Westfield Road, Southsea, says: ‘I think it was held at Easter-time.

‘Anyone could enter a team to race ‘‘baby’’ and pram over a course on Southsea Common.’

She adds: ‘In addition to the obstacle course with a water jump and compulsory drinking of beer from a potty, there were sprints, a yard of ale competition, concourse d’elegance and a long-distance push from Brighton to Southsea by a couple of chaps on roller skates.’
