Have your say

I have received a note from Mike Hill, of Waterlooville, about this photo of a retiring postmaster. He is writing a book on the postal service in the town.

The picture appeared in Alison Marshall’s book Waterlooville – A Modern Village published in 1983 and it was thought the picture showed the retirement of postmaster HT Bettesworth, of Horndean, in 1938.

However, Mr Bettesworth was never recorded as being the postmaster and indeed had died in 1923.

Mike believes that it is Charles Albert Bettesworth who was 74 in 1938. He is also trying to find out who the postmen are in this photo. Can anyone help?
