It’s out-muster at the Dockyard and workers are pictured leaving the new Pitt Street Gate which was opened along with the new East Gate in the early 1930s.

Both were introduced to relieve the pressure on other Portsmouth roads, when all workers left the yard by either the Main Gate or the Marlborough Gate.
