The annual Christmas In The Park event at Queen Elizabeth Country Park is back this weekend with festive fun for all the family.

It’s been running for around 10 years and allows children the opportunity to take part in a variety of Christmas-themed activities whilst exploring the park, near Clanfield.

Both days will play host to a festive nature trail, tractor ride and children’s craft sessions.

Tracey Warren, visitor centre supervisor at the park, says the team keep the format of the event the same every year, changing only the craft session.

She explains: ‘I think that the tractor ride is one of our most popular activities and one that really keeps people coming back.’

The tractor takes the children on a journey up to the top of the park, which is the highest point in the county.

After reaching the top, children can take part in a nature trail back down, in which they are given an activity sheet to answer questions about the park.

Once the trail is complete children can meet Father Christmas, who has had more space made for him and his grotto this year. It is full of gifts, a cosy faux fireplace and a dashing reindeer.

Next on the agenda is craft activities. Tracey says: ‘We change the craft session every year so that it is always different. This year we will be helping the children to make Christmas baubles and decorations.’

The park will be holding another event for children of pre-school age on Tuesday December 16. This event will be similar to this weekend, allowing the pre-schoolers to enjoy the same nature trails, craft activities and visit to Father Christmas.

Tickets to this weekend’s event are almost sold out. Booking is essential and can be done by calling (023) 9259 5040. Each session lasts for two hours and they will run at 9.45am, 10.30am, 11.15am, 12.00pm, 1.00pm, 1.45pm and 2.30pm. Tickets are £12 per child.

For those who have missed out this time, Christmas in the Park will be returning from Saturday December 20-Tuesday December 23.

The park’s Christmas Tree Sales Centre is also open from 10am-4.30pm daily, selling a wide variety of trees while stocks last.
