Better than I imagined

Operatic superstar Jonathan Ansell will be performing at Chichester Festivites this week following his Album of the Year nomination at the Classical Brit Awards.

Bognor born Ansell will perform at Chichester Cathedral on Thursday, July 9, as part of the Festivites.

He will be performing a mix of well known classical pieces as well as pop covers and tracks from both or his albums.

The charismatic young tenor has gone from strength to strength since the nomination for his debut album, Tenor at the Movies.

He originally shot to fame as frontman of X Factor favourites pop-opera group G4 and has since established himself as a bona-fide solo star.

His exceptional voice, which combines the virtuosity of his classical training with the power and passion of his interpretation helped him to multi-million-sales with the reality TV show group, but he hopes his solo endeavour will prove even more of a success.

He can already boast that he's the youngest ever tenor to top the classical charts.

The last time he was seen performing round these parts was when his hit show A Night at the Opera came to Portsmouth Guildhall in November.

'A solo career was always there, somewhere in the back of my mind, when I was a little boy, but I never thought it would happen, and I'm over the moon that it has,' explains Jonathan.

'The great thing is that the reality of it is far better than I ever imagined. It's huge fun, I'm enjoying it all, and I can't wait for the next stage of the adventure.'

Tickets range from 13 to 25 and are available from chifest.org.uk or you can call (01243) 528 356.
