Celebration of our forces
This weekend, Southsea Common plays host to the Armed Forces Weekend celebration as part of Portsmouth's fortnight long tribute to our servicemen.
The event on Saturday and Sunday boasts a packed weekend programme for all the family which includes spectacular arena events, display teams, sideshows and military stalls.
For the last two years, Veterans Weekend has been marked in our calendars as a celebration of what our brave troops have done for us.
Those who attend will be able to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our veterans and shake hands with the very best.
The Arena will include shows from the Red Devils Freefall Display Team, the Royal British Legion Band, the Solent Eagles Motorcycle Display Team and many more.
Forces support organisations will be on-site to provide an insight to what is available for both serving and veteran personnel, as well as charities you can donate to.
Several markets will be there over the two days, including the World Market, where you can sample food grown from around the world, or you can see what our own region has to offer in the Producers and Growers Market.
Saturday will see a full Arts & Crafts Market available, and Sunday will have a massive open air market. Sunday also sees the Band of the Prince of Wales's Division leading a massive Parade.
The weekend will also be incorporating the Airbourne Forces Day, so there will be exhibits from the Airbourne Engineers Association and an Airbourne Shop.
A model display of famous ships is part of the attractions at the D-Day Museum to mark this special weekend.
On Sunday only, entry to the Southsea museum will be free.
Once inside you can view the display - which will include a model of the famous HMS Vanguard.
