Chipper: Celebrating bonfire night with a bang

Greetings Chipsters everywhere. Every November, the tradition for my family to hold a big fireworks party is upheld, in order to celebrate bonfire night.

This year, we’ve planned to make it bigger and better than ever – meaning more fireworks, bigger bangs and sweeter candy floss.

Dad and I went to the shops and bought lots of boxes of colourful rockets, spinners and catherine wheels. He even got a packet of sparklers for me and my friends to enjoy – safely, of course.

To make our party extra woof-tastic, mum is making special toffee apples. Why are they so special, I hear you ask? Because instead of covering apples in toffee, mum melts special, safe, doggy chocolate and pours it over tennis balls.

They are my favourite because I get to enjoy the sweet chocolate and then chew for hours on the ball.

Mum is also baking bonfire cookies, firework fairy cakes and Guy Fawkes gingerbread men. I’ve no doubt they’ll be chomped down in no time!

It’s very important to remember, if you didn’t already know, that most of the time pets hate fireworks. They are extremely loud, after all, and they get rather scared.

Brindley likes to enjoy the treats at our party but will wander inside, more often than not, during the firework display. So if you are having a party – please make sure your furry friends are kept well away.

Write to me and let me know what you get up to.

Chip Chip for now. Your old pal Chipper.
