RESEARCH has found that Portsmouth residents go on an average of three holidays a year.

The study, carried out by online travel agency sunshine.co.uk, found the typical Portsmouth resident goes on two foreign and one UK holiday a year.

It also found that people living in the city tend to visit a new destination every other holiday.

The company surveyed 2,330 adults from across the UK and found that people from the west midlands holiday the most frequently, but Londoners are the most adventurous in terms of varying the destinations they travel to.

Those in the north west holiday the least, while those in the north east are the least adventurous.

Chris Clarkson, MD of sunshine.co.uk, said: ‘Those in the west midlands have clearly got their holidays sussed. But it’s not a bad thing to have a long gap between breaks, because then you appreciate it more.’
