Dame Diana makes a welcome return
Dame Diana Rigg will next week step back on to the Chichester Festival Theatre stage where she performed last summer in The Cherry Orchard.
This time she will play Judith Bliss, a glittering star of the London stage, in Nol Coward's sophisticated and satirical comedy of bad manners, Hay Fever.
Judith floats through life taking every small incident as a cue for a big scene.
When she and her eccentrically dysfunctional family all invite guests to their country house, the innocent visitors arrive expecting a weekend of indulgent glamour. They step instead into a maelstrom of extravagant Bohemianism, outlandish behaviour and romantic machinations.
Mishaps and misunderstandings mount and by Sunday morning the beleaguered guests are desperate to flee.
David Bliss is played by Simon Williams whose credits include The Deep Blue Sea and The Winslow Boy in the West End and tours of An Ideal Husband, Donkey's Years and The 39 Steps.
Notable television appearances include The Gathering Storm, Don't Wait Up and Spooks as well as Upstairs, Downstairs.
*Hay Fever runs from next Thursday until May 2.
Tickets: (01243) 781312.
