Free sessions in Southsea will help people learn the secrets to relaxation. SARAH FOSTER reports.

When money is tight and pressure is building up at work or home, just taking even a bit of time out for yourself can feel like an impossible obstacle to overcome.

Counsellor Cait Wood knows that all too well and believes those suffering from stress can really benefit from learning the importance of how to relax.

That’s why she’s decided to offer free-of-charge healing sessions twice a month to encourage those who can’t afford to see a counsellor but who think they would be benefit if they could.

On Friday she’ll be at Aristia in Albert Road, Southsea, for the first of her Time For You sessions.

And she’ll be back on the first and third Friday of every month from midday until 4pm.

Instead of asking people to pay a charge, Cait is happy to work on a donation-only basis.

Her time will be split into 40-minute sessions and people will be able to access a range of services including Reiki, counselling and emotional support, flower remedies and nutritional advice.

‘People are going to have specific needs, whether it’s that they’re grieving, they’re stressed about their job, they have money or relationship problems, a headache that won’t go away, a bad back or whatever,’ says Cait.

‘If they feel that I might be able to help them then I’ll do my best.’

She adds: ‘Because of the climate at the moment there’s so much struggle and worry about money that people get very stressed and the first thing they stop doing is having sessions that might help them relieve their stress because they can’t afford it.

‘If I can help other people so that they don’t have to think about the money side and they pay what they can afford then it gives them the opportunity.

‘You don’t get anything like this on the NHS and the treatment room at Aristia is really lovely.’

The type of treatment provided will depend on an individual’s needs but her ultimate aim is to help people reach a deeper sense of peace, happiness and relaxation.

She says tiny changes can often make a huge difference and hopes to empower people to learn the secrets to how they can help themselves.

‘I find it a real joy and a privilege to do this because I love it so much,’ she adds.

‘It’s such a beautiful thing to be able to communicate and do something like this. Hopefully not only do other people benefit but I do as well because what you give you get back.

‘It’s very powerful when someone comes in and is feeling stressed and goes out feeling that they can do something about it.’
