When it comes to what to drink on Valentine’s Day, make sure it is fizzy and preferably pink.

Here are three suggestions for you, two pink and one white.

Tattinger is currently my favourite Champagne house and Tattinger Brut Reserve NV (widely available from £34.99 but on offer at Tesco £24.99 and Sainsbury’s £23.32) has real finesse with brioche and citrus fruits.

Crémant de Bourgogne Brut Rosé (Waitrose £12.99) shows just what can be done outside of Champagne.

It has red fruits, a lively mousse and a soft, refreshing finish and at this price will make a more-than-adequate champagne substitute.

Top tipple

Lanson Brut Rosé - Pretty colour with a fine bead of bubbles. Very elegant with hints of raspberries and red fruits. - (On offer at £27.99 at Waitrose until Feb 15)
