Three types of wine this week – a red white (see top tipple) and rosé – which should all make for great alfresco drinking over the summer. Both wines are on special offer at Waitrose until June 21.

We’ll start with the organic Las Mulas Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé 2010, Central Valley (£8.99 on offer at £6.74). It’s wonderfully fresh with crushed red fruits and lifted acidity. A perfect summer rosé.

Zalze Shiraz Mourvèdre Viognier 2010, Western Cape (£6.99 on offer at £5.99) has dark, bramble-type fruit backed up by spices and savoury notes and a ripe, velvety but characterful finish, which just cries out for lamb on the barbecue.
